Graphr.Neo4j

Graphr.Neo4j is a lightweight ORM for Neo4j that focuses on easy set up and result mapping.

Cypher queries are incredibly flexible, and this project makes no attempt to write queries for you, as that would be a huge undertaking and probably just rob you of understanding what the heck you're doing.

Installation

Simply install via nuget in your favorite IDE (it's Rider), or use the command line.

Usage

Dependency Injection Setup (if you're into that)

Add a section to your appsettings, environment variables, or whatever else (I'm not your dad) so you end up with something like this:

Notes on Usage

  • You must return relationships between nodes in your queries if your models have relationship attributes

  • Relationship attributes can be placed on classes that are decorated with the [NeoNode] attribute or an IEnumerable of a decorated class

  • Since you're mapping to a class, return the single node that represents that starting point first in your query

  • This library maps relationships for a node only once per DFS chain to avoid circular references. The node will still be mapped with it's properties each time, but relationships mapped only once.

Advanced Stuff

Projections

Look, you return nodes, you return relationships, but sometimes you need to project things. I get it. Bad news, when you project a node, you lose all the context of the node itself on the return query. Good news, if you follow these steps, you can still get projected data alongside you nodes and relationships.

Step one, you'll need to write a query that returns the nodes, relationships, AND (as in in addition to) your projection(s). By default, you can apply a projection to each itteration or an entity, which ends up being a nice lazy way to do top level projections, since you only have one of those if you followed directions. Alternatively, you can give some sort of lookup value to your projection that points to a property on an entity you want to slap it on.

In the example below, we're gonna lazily slap the count of all of Keanu Reeve's movies on the Actor, and then get a projection of staff counts that have a tie to the Movie nodes' title property.
